Bethesda have recently unveiled the trailer for their new upcoming survival horror game called The Evil Within (a very original name indeed). The game has a very strong name attached to it, Shinji Mikami. Gamers who love horror will have surely played Shinji’s last game in the genre Resident Evil 4, which is still one of the best games there is when it comes to horror. Resident Evil had a lot of memorable scenes, I still remember first entering that village and trying my best to escape through the houses from that chainsaw wielding maniac… I think we may be safe here and expect a good game. Bethesda are great developers and Shinji knows what’s good in horror games.

The trailer is live action, so in reality in doesn’t really show anything about the game itself… but if they’re going with the same vibe and feel, I think we can expect good things. Doesn’t really show much storywise or in terms of setting but I like the general feel of the monsters shown in the trailer, reminds me of Resident Evil 4, but that’s a good thing, right?

There’s also a few images available, courtesy of IGN, that give a more detailed perspective of how the game will look. Hanging bodies, zombie-like creatures, head-in-a-bag maniacs and multi-armed monsters? Count me in! It’s still early as the game is set to release sometime next year in all the usual places, so we should expect to know more and get plenty of information in between.

hemlock grove

Today we see the release of latest lycanthropy infused series  Hemlock Grove on Netflix. The story revolves around a small Pennsylvania town where a girl is brutally murdered and the villagers come out with torches  and pitchforks search
ing for the killer. Oh, and there’s also werewolves, Nazis (at least they look like Nazis), heavy sex, drugs, necrophilia (apparently), vomiting and a whole lot of weird stuff judging by the red band trailer released a few days ago, that I’ve kindly embedded below. It’s safe to say it sparked my interest. It also looks a lot like True Blood and I was bored by that one after four episodes so who knows… Anyway, I’ll give Hemlock Grove a chance. Eli Roth‘s movies haven’t exactly blown me away but the man does deliver on what he promises and he does have a certain vibe that I like also let’s not forget that he’s one of the most influential horror directors of our time, like it or not. He said that he plans to fuck up a generation with Hemlock Grove, that’s an obvious marketing ploy to spike interest but he did achieve something to that effect with Hostel.

Keeping with Netflix standard of releasing the whole series at the same time we’ll be able to watch the entire 13 episodes right now. Which will certainly cause many people to lose a good night sleep tonight while they watch with bloodshot eyes at the depravity that is sure to fill the screen. I’m still not sure if I’ll be able to watch it right now or not, Netflix outside the USA is still a difficult thing to get, but I’ll sure try.

By the way that poster is amazing!!

Immediately stop whatever you’re doing.zombieland

2009 saw the release of Zombieland a fantastic zombie comedy that was funny enough to laugh, had action to entertain and still managed to provide enough zombie goodness to satisfy horror fans. Recently Amazon has announced plans to produce a series picked from 7 pilots by viewers. One of those pilots is based on Zombieland and today is the big day. The trailer is out sure (and below for your viewing pleasure), and we can all see it, but more importantly, Amazon Prime subscribers will be able to see the Pilot right now.

The trailer shows us that gone are Woody Harrelson, Jesse Einberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin. To replace them came Kirk Ward, Tyler Ross, Maiara Walsh and Izabela Vidovic. The original cast played a great role in giving Zombieland it’s deserved place under the spotlight. This doesn’t mean that the new guys aren’t good, it just means that we’ll all feel a certain uneasiness when watching the series, but it will pass. Luckily the creative team writers and producer remain the same, plus we get Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale vs Evil) directing the pilot.

Now I’m not sure if the pilot is good enough or not, I don’t know if the story will remain funny and entertaining, I don’t know if Kirk Ward will be able to fill Woody Harrelson’s shoes, but I do know this. I’ll watch the hell out of this pilot as soon as I possible can and I sure hope you do too.

So if you still remember the rules do no.8 then no. 31, sit back and enjoy the series.

This short has been around since 2008 and you’ve probably seen the feature film by the same name it originated still it’s a great piece of horror. Clocking in at just over 3 minutes it’s amazing how scary and dreadful it is. The continuous shot sure helps, but sound and the young girls do play a big part. It was directed by Andy Muschietti and produced by his sister Barbara Muschietti.

This video starts with a small commentary from Guillermo Del Toro explaining why the short made him want to produce the feature film Mama that premiered back in January, which gives it that DVD extra feel.

I have yet to see the feature film, including reading the reviews (I stay away from those before seeing the movies), but if this short is any indication of the quality of the final feature then I know I’ll enjoy it. I especially like the way the mother moves while chasing the girls.

You can also check it on Vimeo here (without the commentary) or pre-order it from Amazon: Mama.

When I started this site I had no idea things would happen so fast. The response I’m getting and the feedback from the community has been overwhelming. It’s been a pleasure to be able to talk about something I love and see that people like the things I say and come back for more. Yesterday, Michael Knight (please, tell me you drive a black Pontiac Trans Am!) nominated me for a Versatile Blogger Award. I say the award came on a perfect day because yesterday was my record day for visits to my blog! Thank you Michael for that honor, and thanks to everyone who reads, visits and comments on my site. It’s you the community that breath life into it. This is the second award of this kind I’ve received, previously it was the Liebster Award from Shadow Girl.

So, on to the rules.

1. In a post on your blog, nominate 10 fellow bloggers for The Versatile Blogger Award; and link to them.

2. In the same post, add the Versatile Blogger Award.

3. In the same post, thank the blogger who nominated you in a post with a link back to their blog.

4. In the same post, share 10 completely random pieces of information about yourself.

5. In the same post, include this set of rules.

6. Inform each nominated blogger of their nomination by posting a comment on each of their blogs.

Again thank you Michael, you Dino-Geek, for the nomination! You can visit his blog at http://parlorofhorror.wordpress.com/ its a wonderful blog filled with very interesting stuff.

Like the Liebster Award, the Versatile Blogger Award doesn’t quite fit with the rest of the stuff you’ll find in here, so in order to keep things in the same vein I took the liberty of switching the award’s picture with what I think is the most versatile, and perfect, monster in entertainment. Pay your homage to the Xenomorph!

Gives us a kiss, love!

Give us a kiss, love!

And here are 10 random things about me.

1. I turn thirty this year in just about 1 month.

2. I’ve been to Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Africa. Australia and the poles still elude me!

3. Despite being a general movie buff and horror fan I’ve yet to see any of the Hannibal movies. Yes, that includes Silence of the Lambs and yes I am ashamed of this.

4. I’m a hairy guy, I like it, and I’m proud of it. Men should have hair.

5. I have a masters degree in engineering and a MBA.

6. I’m a dog person, but cats are welcome too.

7. I’ve only recently started using Facebook.

8. I’m currently going through Doctor Who starting from the very first season in the sixties. I’m currently on Season 2, so still with the first doctor.

9. I’ve had nightmares all my life and usually I take them as horror movies, so in a sense they don’t bother me, in fact, I’ve often woke up from a nightmare and tried to get back to sleep immediately to find out what happens next.

10. Maybe it’s because I’m European but I don’t understand the problem America (some of it at least) has with nudity and sex. I try to, but I can’t.

Now, after reading those random things about me, take the time to visit these blogs, you won’t regret it:

Also, I’d like to take this opportunity to ask you guys about recommendations to make my blog better, just drop them in the comments. I’ll take criticism about anything, organization, readability, subjects, frequency of posts, visual aspect, grammar, anything you can think of. Including destructive criticism if that’s your thing. Thank you in advance!

House of good and evilThe new trailer and poster for indie production House of Good and Evil was just released on their facebook page this week. It’s directed by David Mun from a screenplay by Blu de Golyer, and stars Rachel Marie Lewis, Christian Oliver, Marietta Marich, Jordan Rhodes, Rob Neukirch, and Bo Keister. Director David Mun as extensive work behind the camera as assistant camera and is now doing his directorial debut with House of Good and Evil. The movie is part of the 2013 Arizona International Film Festival’s Official Selection, and is premiering on the 27th of April. The synopsis taken from the AIFF site is as follows:

After losing their unborn child, Chris and Maggie escape the pressures of the city to live in a secluded country home.  But soon Maggie begins to experience strange events in this mind-bending countryside horror about dedication, grief, and insanity.

The trailer shows what we all know by heart, moving to an old house is never a good idea. Especially an isolated one. Never mind one that has false panel walls. Oh and if your spouse is planing to leave you there alone for some time then run, unless you had a family tragedy just before moving, in that case take the little time you have to plan your own funeral. Anyway, joking aside, the trailer looks good and is capable of creating a really intense atmosphere, I hope the full movie can do the same. In reality even though it looks like your average run of the mill haunted house plot, there seems to be some different twist to this one. Remember how The Pact started as a paranormal movie and then took a hard left turn? I might be wrong but this trailer left me with the same feeling.
