When I started this site I had no idea things would happen so fast. The response I’m getting and the feedback from the community has been overwhelming. It’s been a pleasure to be able to talk about something I love and see that people like the things I say and come back for more. Yesterday, Michael Knight (please, tell me you drive a black Pontiac Trans Am!) nominated me for a Versatile Blogger Award. I say the award came on a perfect day because yesterday was my record day for visits to my blog! Thank you Michael for that honor, and thanks to everyone who reads, visits and comments on my site. It’s you the community that breath life into it. This is the second award of this kind I’ve received, previously it was the Liebster Award from Shadow Girl.

So, on to the rules.

1. In a post on your blog, nominate 10 fellow bloggers for The Versatile Blogger Award; and link to them.

2. In the same post, add the Versatile Blogger Award.

3. In the same post, thank the blogger who nominated you in a post with a link back to their blog.

4. In the same post, share 10 completely random pieces of information about yourself.

5. In the same post, include this set of rules.

6. Inform each nominated blogger of their nomination by posting a comment on each of their blogs.

Again thank you Michael, you Dino-Geek, for the nomination! You can visit his blog at its a wonderful blog filled with very interesting stuff.

Like the Liebster Award, the Versatile Blogger Award doesn’t quite fit with the rest of the stuff you’ll find in here, so in order to keep things in the same vein I took the liberty of switching the award’s picture with what I think is the most versatile, and perfect, monster in entertainment. Pay your homage to the Xenomorph!

Gives us a kiss, love!

Give us a kiss, love!

And here are 10 random things about me.

1. I turn thirty this year in just about 1 month.

2. I’ve been to Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Africa. Australia and the poles still elude me!

3. Despite being a general movie buff and horror fan I’ve yet to see any of the Hannibal movies. Yes, that includes Silence of the Lambs and yes I am ashamed of this.

4. I’m a hairy guy, I like it, and I’m proud of it. Men should have hair.

5. I have a masters degree in engineering and a MBA.

6. I’m a dog person, but cats are welcome too.

7. I’ve only recently started using Facebook.

8. I’m currently going through Doctor Who starting from the very first season in the sixties. I’m currently on Season 2, so still with the first doctor.

9. I’ve had nightmares all my life and usually I take them as horror movies, so in a sense they don’t bother me, in fact, I’ve often woke up from a nightmare and tried to get back to sleep immediately to find out what happens next.

10. Maybe it’s because I’m European but I don’t understand the problem America (some of it at least) has with nudity and sex. I try to, but I can’t.

Now, after reading those random things about me, take the time to visit these blogs, you won’t regret it:

Also, I’d like to take this opportunity to ask you guys about recommendations to make my blog better, just drop them in the comments. I’ll take criticism about anything, organization, readability, subjects, frequency of posts, visual aspect, grammar, anything you can think of. Including destructive criticism if that’s your thing. Thank you in advance!

The Day I Received a Liebster Award

Posted: March 1, 2013 in General
Here's my Liebster Award to all of you!

Here’s my heart as a  Liebster Award to all of you!

Yesterday I received an email saying I had a comment on my about page. I go there and I see I was nominated for a Liebster award. My first reaction was: spam! But then I noticed it was from one of my first followers Shadow Girl from Becki’s Book Blog. As it turns out it’s sort of a chain letter meant to unite and promote new bloggers. Usually every type of chain letter/email stops in me, as I never pass them on. But I’m going through some changes and trying to be the best version of myself I can possibly be so I decided to pass my first chain letter ever and see how it feels.

The rules state I have to:

  1. Thank the person that nominated me.
  2. Answer their 11 questions.
  3. Nominate other 11 blogs, under 200 followers (I’ll play fast and loose with this one).
  4. Ask them 11 questions.

So first things first. Thank you Shadow Girl! It was really nice to receive the nomination!

Now your answers:

  1. If you were one of the seven deadly sins, which one would you be? Gluttony, definitely. But I’m not free from others.
  2. Why did you start your blog? Always loved horror and I think it’s one of the richest genres in entertainment because there’s room for everything in it. Plus I think I have an inner desire to be heard.
  3. Anita or Buffy? This one’s tough…What for? Role model? Can I say neither? I don’t like Anita and Buffy is too teen for my taste, but I guess I’d have to pick Buffy. If I were to pick a female role model Lt. Ellen Ripley would be my choice whatever the situation.
  4. Which of your blog posts is your personal favorite? I like those that have more from me in them, but I prefer those that show the amazing creations of the minds of horror. I guess I’ll have to pick because it has amazing movies and shows a lot of me at the same time, plus I got up from bed and went from a simple idea to what I think is a very good post in just under half an hour.
  5. Can you choose one favorite book for me? Or top 3-5? No pressure. In no particular order: Watchmen (Alan Moore), American Gods (Neil Gaiman), The Books of Blood (Clive Barker), Ender’s Shadow (Orson Scott Card) and the whole A Song of Ice and Fire series (George R.R. Martin).
  6. What is your ultimate blogging goal? No askies backsies – that’s a hard question! To be known as a reliable source for good horror news/reviews/etc. If I could get a opinion in a dvd cover or something it would be a dream come true!
  7. Biggest pet peeve? People who litter. Fuck those stupid pricks, whenever someone throws a paper on the ground I wish the ground would open up and swallow them whole.
  8. Are you married/single/divorced/it’s complicated/all of the above? Married and together for almost 14 years, I wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
  9. When is your favorite time of day to blog? I don’t have one. Whenever I get the urge I guess.
  10. You’re on death row, about to be executed. What is your last meal going to be? Either my chicken lasagna or my homemade shrimp fajitas.
  11. Tell me your favorite TV. Is it Sunday Walking Dead, Adult Swim on Cartoon Network? American Horror Story Wednesdays? Something else, from a decade ago perhaps? Right now it’s Walking Dead, but Game of Thrones is coming back soon…

These are the blogs I nominate:

Girl Meets Freak @
Librarian of the Dead @
Necropolis Macabre @
Run and Scream @
Unreliable Narrator @
Becki’s Book Blog @
Childe of the Night @
Bad Horror Good Times @
Critique of Pure Madness @
James Rayneau @
Patrons of the Pit @

And finally the questions I have for them:

  1. What’s your biggest fear?
  2. Tell me your worst nightmare?
  3. Tell me your biggest hatred towards society?
  4. What do you love most about society?
  5. Name up to 5 unknown movies everyone should see.
  6. Have you ever wished someone’s harm, and if you’re ok with it, why?
  7. What do you fear most hell, heaven, purgatory or no life after death?
  8. What do you love most about you?
  9. Why did you start your blog?
  10. What’s your happy place?
  11. Do you have an impossible desire, and if so, what is it?
